Our purpose

Care that sees
the child first.

Hair loss from a medical condition or treatment can change how a child feels in everyday moments. Families may also be managing appointments, travel, and expenses.

Bright Light Children's Foundation created Healing Crowns for Kids to help eligible children access medical wigs, also called cranial prostheses, and the fitting and care support that goes with them.

Our nationwide program responds to eligible applications and available resources. Each award is reviewed using consistent criteria, with assistance provided at no cost to approved families.

A comfortable fit. A caring experience.
Space for a child to be themselves.

For families and referral partners

A few helpful answers

Before you
reach out.

Who can request help?

A parent or legal guardian may request information for a child under 18 with medically related hair loss. Referral partners can ask how to connect a family. Eligibility, funding, and safe service capacity guide approval.

Does a family pay for approved assistance?

Approved foundation assistance is provided at no cost to the family. The scope of each award is explained before services are arranged.

Can we apply from outside South Carolina?

The program is intended to serve eligible children across the United States. Availability depends on the child's needs, available resources, and the foundation's ability to coordinate appropriate services in that location.

Will I receive a donation acknowledgment?

Yes. The foundation provides an acknowledgment documenting gifts received. Tax treatment depends on the gift and any benefits received in return. Keep your acknowledgment and consult your tax adviser about your own circumstances.

Can I donate wigs or care supplies?

Please contact us before delivering items so we can discuss current needs, condition, and suitability. The foundation describes accepted donated property in its acknowledgment but does not assign its tax value.

Is the foundation a separate organization?

Yes. Bright Light Children's Foundation is a separate nonprofit corporation with its own charitable records and board oversight. Its program is Healing Crowns for Kids.
